This Panasonic TC-P65VT30 65-inch 3D Plasma HDTV review reveals that it has become the flagship model in Panasonic’s plasma lineup. It is a mere half the thickness of previous models and features a redesigned glass front surface instead of the glossy black bezel that kept the previous generation from being considered stylish.

Panasonic TC-P65VT30 : New Features

In addition to upgrading the appearance, this television’s manufacture has included a lot of new features. It has a 3D display with the ability to upconvert 2D images to 3D. It comes with one pair of shutter type glasses. These recharge via a USB charger. Additional pairs may be purchased separately at a cost of over 100 dollars per pair.

Panasonic TC-P65VT30 : THX, DLNA certified, Wi Fi Ready, Built in Apps

The display has earned THX certification in both 2D and 3D modes. It is also Wi Fi ready with an adapter included and DLNA certified out of the box. It also features a broad selection of built in apps such as Hulu Plus, Netflix, YouTube, Pandora, CinemaNow, Twitter, Facebook, Skype, Accuweather, and more. An iPhone app is even offered that turns one’s phone into a remote.

Panasonic TC-P65VT30 : Connections Ports

Input options include HDMI inputs, RF antenna, composite video, cable, an SD card slot, PC, RGB, 3 USB ports, LANand optical digital audio output. This allows users to hook up to existing networks and get the most out of their set.

Panasonic TC-P65VT30 : Displayed in Realistic Definition

Sports fans and gamers will be pleased by the 600hz refresh rate on the screen. This ensures that high action scenes are displayed in realistic definition with no blur as seen in lower end models. There is also a “dejudder” motion smoothing option that is supposed to help keep images from shaking and blurring. However, using this function has little or no effect on images as seen by most users.

Panasonic TC-P65VT30 : Higher Plasma Screen

Black level and contrast are higher than almost any other plasma screen on the market with a contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1. This makes blacks look truly black, without the bluing seen in some sets. It also ensures that there is a full grayscale range to keep images in shadowed areas sharp.

Panasonic TC-P65VT30 : User Friendly Menu

The set features a user friendly menu that allows one to tweak several different settings in the video. However, most casual users will find that the automatic settings are more than adequate to get the best color reproduction. Only truly advanced users with specific requirements in lighting and contrast will gain any recognizable advantage from changing the factory settings.

Panasonic TC-P65VT30 : Reflect Glare

Two drawbacks were noted in this Panasonic TC-P65VT30 65-inch 3D Plasma HDTV Review. One is that the glass panel on the front of the set is prone to reflect glare from overhead light sources. This can make using the set in a brightly lit room somewhat problematic. However, this is one factor that can be overcome by changing some of the default settings to match the space where the set is to be installed.

Panasonic TC-P65VT30 : 3D Set

The other is that only a single pair of 3D glasses come with the set. Additional pairs must be purchased separately if the family is to be able to enjoy the 3D content available at the same time. This can be costly depending on how large one’s family is.
